February 2024 Reads

In February I reread the entire The Royals of Forsyth University series in preparation for the next Princes book release. This is one of my favorite series of all time. This series is a dark, bully, RH, mafia, college romance. The series includes three books for each set of characters that all have interconnecting stories. Currently the Lords and Dukes are a complete series and the Princes have two books with the third being released this summer. I cannot over recommend this series. It is dark and dirty and really makes you question some of your kinks.

We have already done a review on Butcher and Blackbird and this is also a book we cannot over recommend. The audiobook is also *chefs kiss* perfect. The narrators absolutely crush the humor, chemistry, and darkness of this series. READ. IT.

I DNF'd both the "Kings" and "On These Black Sands" series. The Kings series is almost a carbon copy of the Lords of Forsyth (see our first recommendation) only not as good. On These Black Sands was an OK book but the romance was almost non existent and basically only featured a fade to black scene. If you want the adventure without smutt, it is probably a good book for you.

For someone who can normally read one book per day, The House of Flame and Shadow took me three! That mammajamma is THICC but something we have come to expect from this particular series. Overall it was a great book but it definitely left some things hanging that I hope may tie in to future ACOTAR books. I love crossovers!

Finally, I discovered a RH murder mystery series that is phenomenal! The first book in the series is A Dead and Stormy Night and the series has recently been completed. Each book has a new murder to solve and new characters to fall in love with. PLEASE do yourself a favor and read these. You will not regret it!

Vile Boys was a very much anticipated new release that I found a bit lacking. The first two books of this series, Sick Boys and Evil Boys are delightfully dark and dirty. Unfortunately, Vile Boys felt like it was hurried and the dialogue really left something to be desired. It gets better around the halfway mark when all of the backstory is completed and you get back into the current plot. I still recommend reading it so you find out what happens to Crystal but this is not a book I find myself rereading like I do with the other two in the series.

The entire Saint View series by Elle Thorpe is worth reading. The first three sets of books are all RH (got me hooked on the RH trope!) and are dark and delightful.
